Lao American Association

The Lao American Association was formed in 1997 as a way to unify the Laotian community in Houston. The organization is currently in its third incarnation and has undergone massive changes in order to keep pace with the generation in order to evolve, adapt, and remain relevant. The Association strives to be a supporting factor in the lives of the Laotian families in Houston and the Greater Houston Area.

In the current iteration, The Association’s mission is to:

• Preserve our heritage by promoting the practice of Lao art, culture, and tradition
• Promote unity within the community though motivation and involvement in community events and activities
• Offer assistance to fellow members and their families in the event of any hardships
• Promote the active role of Lao women in both the Lao and American communities
• Promote and further education in younger Lao-Americans
